The seeds for lucerne fields are well selected non-GMO varieties. Fields are tested to select best alfalfa varieties and ensure good quality alfalfa for cutting and drying. Professional agronomists examine the fields and determine the best harvesting time and quality analysis is made for each incoming material batch.
Product safety and traceability are important aspects of production of dried alfalfa products. The system allows to trace products from the field where alfalfa was cultivated to the customer who receives the final product. So the staff team is trained on HACCP and GMP+ principles to be able to implement the principles in the production processes and make corrective actions when necessary.
Alfalfa is dried on belt dryer in mild temperature 70-110°C which allows to produce high quality product (traditionally alfalfa is dried at 600°C temperature with flue gases or hot air, which in terms of energy is more cost-effective, however quality suffers).
